Beach Music has been the secret treasure of the Southeast for more than 60 years. Beach Music embraced
Rhythm and Blues 10 years before Rock and Roll hit the national stage. The Shag dance is a part of Beach Music
and they are not to be separated in the Beach Music World.
During the first 30 years of Beach Music it was mostly R & B and soul.
Today it is a little mixture of Pop,Hip Hop, a little country,some southern soul, some jump blues,and
of course some carolina soul. A cold beer, a warm beach, a hot date, romance and no where else to go
is still at it's core. Beach Music has now spread across the U.S. and into Europe and other countries. A lot of
the songs still popular in the beach music world are the ones we grew up listening to on the beaches that are not
considered oldies but are still great beach music songs we want to dance to today. These songs are an important
part of our way of life and new experiences are sometimes built on the foundation of our heritage of yesteryear as well as
today.
